Baseline

This is not a launch announcement. There is no milestone, no product reveal. This is just a place to start writing down what TIR Labs is becoming and what the work has been teaching us.

TIR Labs is a care management platform for practitioners who work with patients on chronic conditions, starting with nutrition and diabetes. The first version is being built for dietitians and nutritionists: people who need to track how patients are doing between sessions, share health data across devices, and coordinate care over time. The focus is deliberate. What it has uncovered is anything but.

We don't have healthcare backgrounds. We came to this from personal experience, from watching family members manage chronic conditions over years: the same questions unanswered between appointments, the sense that the people providing care were never quite looking at the same picture at the same time. That is where it started. Most of what we have learned has come from conversations with nutritionists, dietitians, nurse practitioners, diabetes educators, and endocrinologists, from research, from building things and finding out at each step what the problem actually requires. We carry that as context, not credential, yet.

Healthcare is a complicated field to build in. We have learned that from hitting the constraints that only show up when you are actually building: data standards, regulatory requirements, the gap between what technology can do and what actually works in a clinical setting. Every answer has uncovered a deeper question. We are still in that process and expect to be for a long time.

This is the first of a series of notes we plan to write as the work continues, to document the thinking behind the work as it is actually happening. There will be more to say, about decisions, about wrong turns, about what turned out to matter most. This is just the start of that.
